The Office of Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Chicago Medicine and Biological Sciences is committed to providing a forum for discussing and celebrating diversity and inclusion within patient care, research, and all our other pursuits.

Diversity Dialogues

Diversity Dialogues are monthly brown bag lunchtime conversation on engaging topics, facilitated by members of the Medicine and Biological Sciences faculty and staff, and by researchers from across the University. The topics addressed include leadership development, health, and diversity.

Held the fourth Thursday of each month, Diversity Dialogues are free and open to the public. Lunch is not provided. Find more information, here.

Diversity Speakers Series

Hosted by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Chicago Medicine and Biological Sciences, the Speakers Series offers an opportunity for our faculty, residents, medical students, post docs, and staff to meet and interact with regionally and nationally recognized leaders in diversity, cultural competency in academic medicine, LGBT issues, and public health. Diversity Research and Small Grants Program

The Diversity Research and Small Grants Program offers BSD faculty staff and hospital employees up to $1,000 to engage in basic, clinical, or translational health disparities research.  BSD and hospital employees are invited to request funding in support of projects related to research patient care and education. Distinguished Leader in Diversity and Inclusion

In 2014, the Faculty Advisor Committee added a distinguished faculty award, the Distinguished Leader in Diversity and Inclusion.  The objective of this award is to create a formal mechanism for honoring outstanding contributions towards fostering a more diverse and inclusive community within the Biological Sciences Division.  While we define diversity broadly to include race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, sex, age, and class, we are particularly interested in honoring faculty who have increased the number of under-represented minorities in our faculty, graduate and training programs; increased the number of women faculty in academic leadership; or whose clinical work has addressed health disparities by ensuring equitable, high-quality care and optimal health outcomes for diverse populations.
