There are many reasons why the University of Chicago Medicine was ranked among the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report in its 2012-13 "Best Hospitals" survey. A primary reason is certainly the high caliber of the health care professionals on staff.
Our nurses, physicians, and administrative staff are as diverse as the communities they serve. However, they are united by a shared commitment to delivering high-quality care and a common sense of pride in working at the forefront of medicine.
Our caregivers strive to be welcoming, understanding, and inclusive, building a culture of compassion to ensure that our patients feel safe expressing their needs while receiving treatment.
To give our care teams the tools for success in this vital role, the University of Chicago Medicine’s Human Resources Department is working in collaboration with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to provide cultural competency training and professional development workshops for all levels of faculty and staff. We will continue to use lessons learned from our Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan to refine our policies and procedures and to expand our employee resources and support programs.
We endeavor to attract the best employees from all backgrounds and actively seek highly qualified, culturally sensitive candidates who can bring the best skills and qualifications to the job.
